Marc Hynes Takes on Senior Role at Cadillac’s Formula 1 Team

Former Lewis Hamilton manager joins Cadillac in senior F1 role

Cadillac has announced the appointment of Marc Hynes as the chief racing officer for its Formula 1 team, marking a significant step in the brand’s motorsport ambitions.

Hynes, a former racing driver himself, achieved notable success in 1999 when he edged out Luciano Burti to claim the British F3 championship, with future Formula 1 champion Jenson Button finishing in third place. This victory came while racing for the Manor team, where he later contributed to both Formula 1 and the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

During his time at Manor, Hynes collaborated closely with Graeme Lowdon, the current team principal of Cadillac, establishing a strong partnership that has now evolved into co-owning Equals Management.

In his new position, Hynes will oversee the integration of the driver lineup and engineering teams, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and foster collaboration between technical and sporting divisions. This initiative is designed to cultivate a disciplined and competitive environment within the team.

Additionally, he will manage Cadillac’s driver program, which currently includes reserve driver Zhou Guanyu, who is also part of the Equals Management roster.

“Establishing a new team in Formula 1 represents a unique challenge, and I look forward to influencing the culture, processes, and performance standards right from the outset,” Hynes stated. “With a robust and diverse lineup of drivers, my priority will be to ensure clarity, alignment, and discipline, allowing both drivers and engineers to excel.”

Lowdon expressed his confidence in Hynes, highlighting his exceptional blend of racing knowledge and strategic insight. “Marc’s ability to bridge the gap between drivers, engineers, and leadership will be vital as we work to carve out our place on the grid. As we head into our inaugural season, having Marc’s expertise at the helm of our racing operations is invaluable for the Cadillac Formula 1 Team,” he remarked.

Hynes has a long-standing relationship with Lewis Hamilton, having played a crucial role in developing Hamilton’s Project 44 from 2015 to 2021. He also reunited with the seven-time world champion as his manager in 2024, although reports suggest they have parted ways just prior to Hynes’ transition to Cadillac.
