Hossam Hassan, the coach of Egypt’s national football team, has stated that he considers the recent incident with Dallas police resolved. This follows a physical altercation involving him and team director Ibrahim Hassan with a police officer at their hotel in Dallas.

Footage emerged on Thursday, the day before Egypt’s match against Australia in the World Cup round of 32, depicting both men in a heated argument with a Dallas police officer. The dispute seemed to arise when a player attempted to take a photo with a young fan in the hotel lobby.

The officer initially approached Hossam Hassan, but tensions escalated with Ibrahim Hassan, resulting in a shoving match as he appeared frustrated with the officer’s intervention.

In response, the Dallas police released a statement indicating that their officers had been called by hotel security about a person without event credentials trying to gain entry. According to their account, the situation was resolved on-site, and police engaged with Egyptian representatives to address any concerns.

Through a translator, Hossam Hassan mentioned that the team had accepted an apology from the police.

“We are really happy to be here at this tournament and we are satisfied with the security personnel that are accompanying us,”

“I would like to point to the high-level organization we have with us and the level of security we have with us.”

he expressed during an emotional post-game interview.

Yahia Qalash, the former head of Egypt’s Journalists’ Union, remarked on Hassan’s gesture, stating,

“It was the most significant scene,”

“It was a telling scene in an exceptional moment.”

There has been no indication of any disciplinary action against Hassan following his show of support.
