Christian Horner’s Alpine Investment Talks Heat Up Amid Links to Former McLaren Supporters

Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing

Speculation surrounding Christian Horner’s potential investment in the Alpine Formula 1 team has intensified, following reports of discussions with MSP Sports Capital. The former Red Bull Racing chief executive has engaged in talks with this investment group, which previously divested from McLaren Racing in September 2025 and is reportedly eager to re-enter the racing scene.

After being replaced by Laurent Mekies at Red Bull in July 2025, Horner has found himself at the center of various rumors about a possible return to Formula 1. The latest buzz suggests he may be looking at a role with Alpine.

“I’ve been visiting nearly every team on the grid so far,” Horner remarked when questioned about the swirling rumors. “Since my exit from Red Bull, I have not publicly commented much. It’s flattering to be involved in this kind of speculation, but it’s common in Formula 1.”

He further clarified his stance: “I would only consider returning if it was for the right opportunity, collaborating with individuals who share the same ambition to win. I’m not interested in merely participating.”

Reflecting on his career, he noted, “I believe I have done my part. Should I return, it would likely be in a different capacity than the one I held for over two decades.” He expressed that the current interest in Formula 1 is unprecedented, with numerous exceptional individuals eager to invest.

Although the allure of a comeback is strong, Horner emphasized he is not in a hurry. “If my journey concluded at Red Bull, it has been an incredible experience. I would only return for a project that genuinely excites me and has the potential to succeed,” he stated.

The recent report has reignited discussions around Horner’s future, revealing that MSP Sports Capital is among a diverse array of investors—including wealthy individuals and institutional entities—who have been in talks with him about supporting his next venture in motorsport.
