Carson Hocevar is firmly planted in his position, having recently inked a substantial contract extension with Spire Motorsports that will keep him with the organization well into the 2030s.
The 23-year-old driver made his full-time debut in the Cup Series in 2024, playing a crucial role in helping the team enhance its competitive edge. Though he has yet to claim a victory at the Cup level, Hocevar has recorded three top-five finishes and 15 top-ten placements across 81 races. He also marked his entry into the Cup Series with Spire in the 2023 season.
This week, he took the lead during the Clash at Bowman Gray, leading for 18 laps before encountering a mishap in a late-race collision.
Commitment to the Future
As the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year, Hocevar is enthusiastic about securing a long-term future with Spire, confirmed by a contract that guarantees his role as the driver of the No. 77 car for a minimum of five years.
“I have a passion for racing, and there’s truly no better place to do it than here,” Hocevar expressed. “This commitment highlights our mutual dedication and eagerness to collaborate for an extended period.”
He further remarked, “Jeff Dickerson feels like a father figure to me, and I similarly look up to Luke Lambert (crew chief), Tyler Green (spotter), Bill Anthony (Spire Motorsports’ president), and the entire No. 77 crew. Everyone here feels like family. Spire has transformed significantly since my rookie year, especially when I debuted in 2023. Knowing I will be part of the Cup garage for many years is exhilarating and a dream realized.”
Expanding Opportunities
Alongside the contract extension, Hocevar will also participate in 13 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races this season, providing him with additional racing opportunities.
Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire, stated, “This is a significant milestone for our organization, announcing an extension with Carson that spans multiple years. It’s not only about his long-term presence; it also allows our sponsors and competition team to plan ahead with confidence knowing he’ll be in the No. 77 car for the foreseeable future.”
He added, “Getting to know Carson and witnessing his growth both on and off the track has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. I consider him like a son, and it means a lot to me to see him committed for several more years. This announcement might test my blood pressure medication, so I’ve informed my doctor, who may need to adjust my dosage, but it’s definitely worth it.”
