Hamilton Senses Enhanced Winning Spirit at Ferrari Ahead of 2026 Season

Lewis Hamilton has expressed his observation of an exceptionally vibrant atmosphere at Ferrari as preparations ramp up for the 2026 Formula 1 season. The seven-time World Champion noted a palpable “winning mentality” resonating among the team members like never before.

During the recent Barcelona Shakedown, Hamilton and Ferrari kicked off the new era of regulations on a strong note. The iconic Italian team navigated their testing agenda smoothly, gaining valuable insights into the SF-26 package without encountering significant setbacks.

Reflecting on the experience, Hamilton remarked, “This week has been genuinely enjoyable. A tremendous amount of effort has been invested over the winter, both personally and by the team in preparing for this test. Witnessing the extensive mileage we’ve accumulated over the past few days is a testament to the remarkable work put in by everyone at the factory, for which I’m truly thankful. Consistency and avoiding issues are crucial…”

He continued, “Naturally, there are always minor challenges, yet we managed to minimize downtime. While it’s possible that obstacles may arise in the coming weeks, overall, we have enjoyed a remarkably solid couple of days. We undoubtedly have areas to improve, as does every team, but our debriefings have been productive, and there’s a strong commitment from everyone. I genuinely sense that the competitive spirit among the team is stronger than ever, which is very encouraging.”

Having faced challenges in his initial season with Ferrari, Hamilton contemplated the potential future for both himself and the team as they look toward 2026. He highlighted that the latest iteration of the F1 car “is actually a bit more enjoyable to drive.”

“The atmosphere is filled with positivity and enthusiasm,” he stated emphatically. “We are fully aware of the work that lies ahead. Mercedes has also shown impressive performance during testing, and both Red Bull and Haas have had strong runs too. Thus, while we can’t precisely gauge our standing, this initial week has been solid and sets a foundation for building further.”

Hamilton acknowledged the necessity for significant advancements and emphasized that development will be pivotal moving forward. He stressed the importance of thoroughness, urging the team to ensure all bases are covered, while maintaining clarity and precision in their communication and decision-making processes.

“It’s essential for all of us to perform at our peak. I can see that everyone is coming into this season with renewed energy, which is fantastic,” Hamilton concluded.

Next week, Hamilton and the rest of the Formula 1 grid will reconvene in Bahrain for the first of two official pre-season tests.
