Ubisoft Embraces Humor Over Legal Threats Amid Black Flag Remake Speculation

Ubisoft is now memeing about Black Flag remake leaks, which is a change from threatening to sue its lead actor over them

If you happened to miss the buzz surrounding Ubisoft’s rumored Black Flag remake, you might want to check your pulse. This project has become one of the industry’s worst-kept secrets, with hints surfacing from age-rating organizations, unnamed informants, and even its own lead actor, Matt Ryan, who once revealed that he was warned against discussing it further due to potential legal action.

However, it seems Ubisoft’s stance has shifted, as the official Assassin’s Creed X account now engages with fans through humorous GTA memes referencing fresh leaks. A fan account named Zephryss shared a photo of a figurine depicting Edward Kenway, the hero of Black Flag, claiming it could be part of the new remake, discovered by fans on the resale platform Vinted.

In a cheeky reply, the Assassin’s Creed account posted the well-known meme of CJ returning to San Andreas, captioned with “Ah shit, here we go again.” This marks the second time a leak has appeared linked to a figurine, assuming the claims hold water.

The lighthearted approach is amusing and seems fitting, especially considering the extensive evidence suggesting that the Black Flag remake is indeed in the works. It’s puzzling why Ubisoft hasn’t openly confirmed its existence yet, and the AC account’s playful banter certainly adds to the intrigue surrounding the leaks.

Despite the jokes circulating online, I can’t help but feel a twinge of sympathy for Matt Ryan, who portrayed the original Black Flag character with great skill. While he faces stern letters from legal representatives, others are enjoying memes that poke fun at the situation.
