Terraria’s Long-Awaited 1.4.5 Update Set for Release This Month

Terraria's long-awaited 1.4.5 patch finally has a release date, and it's this month: 'start the countdown'

The moment fans have been eagerly anticipating is finally upon us. After three years of hard work, the much-anticipated 1.4.5 update forTerrariahas an official release date. Mark your calendars for January 27, a mere two weeks from now.

Re-Logic, the studio behind the game, shared this exciting news earlier this week in a post on their Steam page. They noted, ‘We have a few more tasks to complete before the launch,’ but emphasized that players should ‘start the countdown’ as the update will be available in just 13 days!

Despite the lack of a confirmed release date until now, the development of update 1.4.5 had been nearing completion for quite some time. Back in August, Re-Logic indicated they were ‘in the endgame’ stages, having established an internal launch window confirmed with their partners. The goal was to ensure a simultaneous global launch across all platforms, which contributed to the delay.

Initially, Re-Logic had aimed to roll out the update in December of the previous year. However, a post shared on Boxing Day revealed that coordinating with all platforms and global partners in time proved to be ‘impossible.’ The company realized that committing to a December launch would mean releasing during the holiday week, which conflicted with their anti-crunch philosophy. They stated they did not want to ‘ask all of our teams to forgo time with family and friends during the holidays,’ a sentiment that resonates with many.

As for the content of update 1.4.5, players can anticipate a plethora of new features. Notably, it includes crossover packs inspired byDead CellsandPalworld, which will introduce various weapons, items, and entities from both titles. Among these additions is a unique ‘summonable Digtoise’ fromPalworld, capable of mining through blocks, which is set to enhance gameplay.

In addition to these licensed features, a wealth of original content will also be included in the update. Players can look forward to new music blocks, an array of peculiar boulders that exhibit unusual behaviors, and several transformation mounts that allow players to morph into various creatures such as bats, rats, and velociraptors. Furthermore, new entities like pufferfish and an exciting six new types of slime will be added, along with countless other items and enhancements. While the wait for 1.4.5 has been lengthy, the extensive list of new features suggests that the excitement will soon pay off.
