No Rest for the Wicked Achieves One Million Sales, Co-op Feature Launching Soon

Diablo-like No Rest for the Wicked has sold a million copies, and co-op is coming next week

No Rest for the Wicked may present itself as a visually artistic version of Diablo, yet it stands out as a top-down soulslike adventure. According to Tyler Colp, a contributor to PC Gamer, the game has garnered significant interest. The developer, Moon Studios, announced on Thursday that it has successfully sold one million copies on Steam during its early access phase.

Alongside this milestone, the team revealed that a four-player co-op mode is set to debut on January 22. While I have yet to experience the game either solo or with others, the sight of multiple heroes banding together to confront formidable bosses is certainly eye-catching. The co-op design, as outlined in a detailed video from Moon Studios in December 2025, draws inspiration from the realm mechanics seen in Minecraft, with the notable distinction that it does not require a subscription fee.

This innovative approach means that, unlike the invasion mechanics of Dark Souls or the shared save systems of other action RPGs, No Rest for the Wicked will maintain a clear boundary between persistent multiplayer saves and offline single-player progress. This differs from titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, as players can advance in the game with friends regardless of their online status, even if they did not initiate the save.

One can only hope that your gaming group experiences fewer conflicts than the lead of No Rest for the Wicked, Thomas Mahler, who recently had a heated exchange on X regarding Diablo 4, referring to it as a ‘MTX slot machine.’ Mahler’s social media presence has sparked criticism, with some arguing that his contentious remarks and accusations of fostering an ‘oppressive’ workplace culture could undermine the game’s reputation.
