Hytale Receives Major Dinosaur Update Just Days After Launch

Minecraft-like Hytale got a huge dinosaur update just a few days after release

After a tumultuous development journey, Hytale has finally opened its doors to players, and the reception has been quite positive. The game has already generated enough revenue to sustain another two years of development, and importantly, it has proven to be an enjoyable experience.

Christopher Livingston, a senior editor at PC Gamer, shared his thoughts, noting that while the game “has a long road ahead,” the elements that are currently functional are indeed impressive.

In a bid to maintain this early momentum, the Hytale development team has rolled out a significant update a mere four days post-launch. This update begins with the delightful announcement of two words that many gamers cherish: “added dinosaurs.” This shows that the team is focused on delivering engaging content.

Furthermore, players can look forward to new options for character customization, along with numerous bug fixes that include several crash resolutions. Additionally, some balance adjustments have been made to resolve key issues, such as ensuring that weapon attacks now take line of sight into account.

The developers have also replaced placeholder assets and animations with more refined versions. Notably, the behavior of “cautious wildlife predators” has been fine-tuned, ensuring they will only attack if provoked.

The comprehensive patch notes can be accessed on the Hytale website, which has also been a source of various updates about the game’s lore and design strategies in recent weeks. It’s impressive to see the swift progress made by the studio since Simon Collins-Laflamme, the owner of Hypixel, took the reins and revived the project after its cancellation by Riot. Just one day after the acquisition, gameplay footage was revealed, and now, only two months later, players can enjoy a playable version featuring fully integrated dinosaurs.

I am eager to see how Hytale evolves from this point onward. Previously, I considered Grounded to be the standout title in the survival crafting genre. However, after experiencing games like Enshrouded, Abiotic Factor, V Rising, and Vintage Story, I find myself fully embracing this genre with Hytale on the horizon.

If you are interested in trying Hytale, it’s important to note that it isn’t yet available for purchase on Steam. However, early access is available for $20 directly on the developer’s website.
