Bayern Munich Engages in Discussions to Renew Kane’s Contract

Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane

Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has confirmed that the club is engaged in negotiations with Harry Kane regarding the extension of the striker’s contract.

The 32-year-old England international made the switch from Tottenham to Bayern in August 2023, signing a four-year agreement valued at an initial €100 million (£86.4 million).

Since his arrival, Kane has made a significant impact, netting 119 goals and providing 30 assists across 126 appearances for the club, while also securing the first major title of his career by aiding Bayern in clinching the 2024-25 Bundesliga championship.

“We are in discussions with Harry, we are in talks,” Eberl stated during a Bundesliga event held in Frankfurt.

He added, “It is well understood that a decision must eventually be reached.”

In October, Kane expressed that he could easily envision himself remaining with Bayern and noted a decrease in his ambition to return to the Premier League.

This season, he has scored 34 goals in 30 matches for Vincent Kompany’s team, including an impressive 21 goals in just 19 Bundesliga appearances, as he aims to surpass the record of 41 goals set by former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski in a single Bundesliga season.

Moreover, Kane has played a crucial role in propelling Bayern to second place in the Champions League group stage, with one match remaining.

“Harry holds great confidence in us and feels at home in Munich,” remarked Bayern’s CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen.

He continued, “He and his family have settled in well. Thus, we see no reason to hurry this process.”
