Former NFL Player Darron Lee Arrested for Girlfriend’s Murder

Darron Lee

Darron Lee, a former NFL linebacker, has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend in a shocking turn of events.

Authorities responded to a call at a residence located near Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Thursday. Upon their arrival, they found a woman who had already succumbed to her injuries despite attempts to revive her.

Lee, aged 31, was quickly identified as the prime suspect in the case and was taken into custody. On the following day, he faced charges of first-degree murder and evidence tampering.

He is scheduled to appear in court on February 11. A statement released by the Hamilton County sheriff’s office noted, “Preliminary findings indicate the victim’s death was the result of a homicide.”

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of her family.

Drafted as the 20th pick by the New York Jets in 2016, Lee’s most recent appearance in the NFL was with the Buffalo Bills in 2020. His initial four-year contract with the Jets was cut short in 2019 due to disciplinary issues and declining performance.

Lee was also on the Kansas City Chiefs’ roster during their Super Bowl victory in 2020, although he did not take part in the game itself. After signing with the Las Vegas Raiders in June 2021, he was released just two months later without having played any games.

In 2023, Lee was arrested for charges related to assault and domestic violence, with reports detailing an incident where he allegedly pushed a woman against a wall, threw her to the ground, and struck her multiple times with his fists.
