Jeremy Jacquet Poised for Liverpool Medical Ahead of £60 Million Transfer

Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet is on the verge of undergoing a medical examination at Liverpool as he prepares for a potential £60 million transfer to Anfield. However, the 20-year-old centre-back will not be joining the squad during the current transfer period.

If the deal is finalized, Jacquet will officially become a Liverpool player this summer, following an agreement between the two clubs for a fee of £55 million plus an additional £5 million in performance-related bonuses.

The young French international, who represents the Under-21 team, is expected to ink a five-year contract that will last until the summer of 2031, with an option for an extra year.

During the winter transfer window, Chelsea had reportedly engaged in discussions with Jacquet, but it appears they will not match Liverpool’s financial offer.

Strengthening Defensive Options

Liverpool aims to enhance their defensive lineup, especially with Ibrahima Konate’s contract set to expire at the end of the current season. The club had previously missed out on acquiring Marc Guehi last summer, with the English defender choosing to sign with Manchester City in January.

Although Liverpool would have preferred to integrate the centre-back immediately, Rennes has made it clear that Jacquet will not be available for transfer until the summer.
